Lumeloch Town Festival

Every year in Lumeloch town, there is a grand festival of sorts. The festival brings people from all over Bohren and other neighboring regions to kick off the opening of the Bohren Pokemon League Season. The town hosts various events such as a Pokemon Contest, carnival games and rides, and on the final day, the first Pokemon Tournament: A single battle, one pokemon only free-for-all. Extremely basic, with high stakes: The first Bohren Tournament Ribbon and a very mysterious and valuable prize!

The gates have finally opened and the Lumeloch festival has begun!

Bluegull shrieked, indignant, as the Thunderbolt hit her, sagging in the air until she spiraled down to land in the water, breathing heavily. Skyler sighed. She could take out that Froslass in one hit... but that might leave Bluegull vulnerable to whatever pokemon came out next - and Skyler couldn't afford to lose any more pokemon.

"Take a rest, okay Bluegull? Get your strength back."

Bluegull trilled, tucking her head under her wing. Roost lit her up in a circle of falling feathers, and she looked better already.

Viktor titled his head to the side. She was taking a smarter route, healing up her pokemon before she took out 'Lass. However, she was helping both sides. 'Lass had other tricks up her sleeves.

"'Lass, Set up Spikes if you please." He waved his hand at the other side of the field. Luckily his spikes were buoyant.

"Fross!" Waving her arms, out of her hands came large pointed spikes which floated in the water around the Altaria.

Spikes. field hazard wasn't something Skyler wanted or needed this late in the match. "Alright Blue, it's time to-"

Bluegull looked back at her trainer, fixing her with one beady eye, and made a noise that was almost a screech, tucking her head back under her wing.

"...Or you could Roost again, I guess that would be okay," Skyler said with a shrug.

"Laaass?" Now Froslass was tilting her head to the side. She turned back and looked at Viktor who shrugged.

"Alright then..." He looked at the spikes on the field, the resting Altaria, and his swaying Froslass who was still clinging to the focus sash, "Thunder wave, 'Lass."

She nodded and gathered static in her hands, blue electricity surging in between her hands. It crackled and sparked and finally, when it was large enough she thrusted it forward.

The second the static hit Bluegull, dancing along her wings and leaving little bolts of crackling lightning behind, Skylers palm met her face and she groaned. On top of everything else, now her Altaria was paralyzed? Fantastic.

Bluegull, on the other hand, snapped her head up and hissed, her feathers slowly rising in a threat posture.

"Oh now you're ready to battle?" Skyler asked, exasperated.

Bluegull trilled, her claws glowing blue with dragon-type energy, and then struck out, lances of blue following in the wake of her strike. She was so very done with this Froslass.

Viktor had his pokeball ready when 'Lass fell. It was only a matter of time, he was glad that he had time to set up a few more things before her time was up. He placed the pokeball on his belt and nodded, "You did a fantastic job 'Lass." He looked up at the Altaria and then grabbed another ball off his belt. It was time to teach this Altaria a lesson, "Persian, go!"

"Permow!" Gracefully it leaped from the ball and landed on the ground, slowly cleaning one of her paws.

"My dear, if you please, Fake Out!" He pointed forward.

"Sanmrow!" she leaped forward as close as she could to the Altaria to cause it to flinch on its next move. Then, flying back to its side of the field, she clapped her paws together sending a large wave of air to knock the Altaria back.

"Now! Taunt!!!" Persian then lifted its paw, it's eyes turning red.

"Altarrrrrrr," Bluegull said, her eyes going red with the Taunt, her feathers fluffing up even more. It was a sign that she was about to get very, very bratty. Skyler wasn't sure if Bluefull would even listen at this point.

"Dragon Claw, Blue! Get it!"

But the little lightnings crackling around the Altaria's wings fizzed, and even though she tried to move, nothing happened. She was fully paralyzed.

Viktor smiled, there was a reason Persian's nickname was the Free-Hit-Feline. She was back to cleaning her paws, watching the Altaria bored like a cat would watch its nearly-dead prey.

"Now," he pulled out the Persian's pokeball, "U-turn."

"Pers-owww!" It bolted toward the Altaria as fast as Ninjask before. It attacked with a paw quickly and turned on its back paw and dove into the pokeball.

"Great job Persian." he put the ball back on his belt and grabbed the first ball on his belt, "'Magius! Your turn."

"Maaagius." it spun onto the field dramatically and slowly floated it down, seeming to stretch itself preparing for battle.

Skyler swallowed. Even though Viktor was new to the League, his Mismagius was already a thing of legend. It figured that he would keep her in reserve until the last moment, when Skyler's pokemon were already weak.

Bluegull was thrashing now, hissing her displeasure at having her target taking away, her eyes still red with the Taunt - and her wings still clamped against her body with the paralysis. She was helpless in the face of the oncoming attack.

He couldn't help but feel a little sorry for the poor Altaria. But now was not the time for sympathy. He had already promised he was not going to go easy. Viktor's style was based on status ailments of all kinds and Bluegull was only taking the full burnt of it. 'Magius hovered ominously waiting for its first command of action, although it already knew, "Confuse ray."

"Maaaaaagious." Distorted circular rays came out of her forehead pointed directly at the Altaria.

Skyler gripped the rail on her side of the field. "Dragon Claw! Don't let it get to you, Blue!"

The red faded from the Altaria's eyes as she looked around, her head moving in drunken circles like it was on a puppet string. The blue energy crackled around her claws and she lashed out randomly, trying to hit something.

Luckily, it went Mismagius's way. "That's it, Blue! Good job!"

Mismagius jetted back from the hit. The Altaria was strong for sure, but Mismagius was stronger. She recovered a bit with her leftovers and and then waited for a command, which again, she already knew. But she was patient, "'Magius, Shadow Ball!"

The shadows around her suddenly began to form into a small ball in the front of her, "Maaaagius." once it had reached a large enough size, she released it forward.

The attack spun Bluegull around in the water, and she flapped around, ungainly and dizzy as she tried to fire off another Dragon Claw. This time, it backfired, spinning her around even more as she squawked her indignation.

"It's okay Bluegull, just keep your head! Don't lose your focus!" Skyler said, leaning over the railing now. The rain had long since stopped, and now the sun beat down on her back as she looked over the field.

The crowd began to murmur - Viktor was clearly coming out ahead in the betting pool, but pokemon battles were unpredictable and everyone knew it. Who knew what Skyler would pull out of her sleeve at the last minute?

Mismagius smiled a bit and looked back a Viktor who was not smiling. The crowd was starting to murmur that the battle was already over. He knew more than anyone that a fight could change at any second. But he wanted nothing more than to win. Mismagius was his strongest team member and everyone knew this.

He nodded at 'Magius who summoned up another shadow ball which flew to the others side of the field.

Bluegull took the hit, spinning again and shaking her head hard. She fluffed her feathers and shook herself all over, and abruptly her eyes focuses on Mismagius again on the other side of the field. It seemed that her confusion was almost wearing off - but that last shadow ball had hit her pretty hard.

If Skyler had any hope of winning, she had to take the Mismagius out in one hit. "Dragon Dance, Blue! We have to one-hit that ghost!"

Altaria trilled, swirling around in the water with energy gathering under her wings. She wanted to take out the Mismagius just as much as Skyler did. Maybe more.

A few more hits and the Altaria would be down. But with a Dragon Dance under it's belt, he feared that it might pick up the power to take down Mismagius. He wasn't too positive it could in this condition, but he had to keep his eye out in case, "Another."

'Magius nodded and this time spinning gathered up more shadow and threw another powerful shadow ball it's way.

Skyler leaned so far over the railing she looked like she was about to fall over. "Now, Blue! Hit it now! Dragon Claw!"

Bluegull trilled, struggling against the paralysis - but it was no use. It had taken effect again, and now Skyler's last-ditch effort to take down Viktor's most powerful pokemon was useless. She sighed, sagging over the railing.

The smirk creeped across his face. Some people called him insane, he always took it as playful banter. But that smirk, it was trademark. He started to laugh to himself, not enough so anyone would hear him. People were lucky he kept his "power" on the good side, "FINISH IT!"

"Maaaaag!" The shadows grew, sucking them out of the ground and forming into the largest Shadow Ball she had produced. It seemed to crackle from inside, coated in deep purple smoke, "GIOUS!" she threw it forward.

"Rrrrria!" Bluegull trilled, knocked backward by the force of the Shadow Ball until she was almost under the platform itself. Skyler leaned over, extending her pokeball.

"You did, great, Blue! Come back and have a rest." Skyler returned the Altaria to her pokeball and her hand hovered over the two remaining on her belt. Both of them had already been out on the field, but of the two of them Azumarill probably had a better chance of beating the Mismagius.

"Azumarill, it's your turn! Go!"

Azumarill popped out of his pokeball ready to go, staring the Mismagius down from across the field.

Viktor watched as the Azumarill hit a few of the spikes in the water. Minimal damage, but everything helped. The Mismaguius swayed a little back and forth. Her moves were solid, she already knew what to do. She merely looked back at Viktor, who nodded.

"Maaaagius." Another round of distorted rings flew from her forehead and straight toward the Azumarill.

"Zu?" Azumarill said, looking around like he didn't know what was going on. The crowd began to murmur - confused pokemon could do serious damage to their trainers or to the crowd.

Azumarill was no exception. "Rest, Azumarill! Shake off that confusion!" Skyler shouted, wanting to nullify the threat he posed to the crowd.

Too late - Azumarill had already whipped up a Waterfall, skidding along the side of the stands until he ran into a pole. He shook his head, his ears flapping. "Zuuuuuuuuuu."

Viktor couldn't help but laugh. Confusion was painfully to watch if it was your own team, but for some reason to him other pokemon's confusion was hilarious. 'Magius even let out a giggle or two.

"Alright 'Magius, let's end this quickly. Shadow Ball!" the shadows again ripped from the ground and formed into another powerful sphere and jetted toward the Azumarill.

The attack turned Azumarill around, spinning him off-balance and confusing him even further.

"Azumarill! Snap out of it! Rest!"

Skyler wanted to make sure Azumarill got his strength back - but this time, Azumarill thought he heard 'Take Down.' He launched himself at the closest target - which happened to be Viktor's observation platform.

Skyler smacked her hand against her face again and sighed. "Maaaaaaaaan."

Viktor grabbed the railing. Dang that Azumarill was strong. He had to compose himself before he called out the next attack, "End it."

'Magius gathered the shadows again, this time flying around a few columns to gather up as much as she could and finally threw the shadow ball forward to the Azmarill.

Azumarill got caught full force with the Shadow Ball, toppling backward in the water until he just floated, his ears twitching.

"Bit rough," Skyler muttered. She returned Azumarill to his pokeball and sighed. The only pokemon she had left was Typhoon, and even as fast as he was, she knew he couldn't match her for speed.

But a battle was a battle, and it only ended when the last pokemon was knocked out. "Go, Typhoon!"

Typhoon popped out of his pokeball, staggering as he was hit by the spikes. He shook his head and focused on the opponent pokemon, but it was clear by the way he was standing that it wouldn't take much to take him out. Skyler shook her head. "Just try, Typhoon! Waterfall!"

She knew the attack wouldn't hit before Mismagius got him with her Shadow Ball, but she could try.
