Umbreon on the move
Who: Sheik, Shadow, OPEN
What: A nice evening stroll. Without permission, but oh well.
When: A little after sunset
Where: The clifftops, near the dojo
This evening, current denizens of Sheercliff, if one was to be hanging out near the dojo, they'd be able to see an Umbreon out on a stroll. Shadow, tired of all the training, had made his escape, and now he was doing his levelheaded best to learn everything he could about his temporary prison.
Nearby, his rather more exasperated trainer was busy looking for him, Absol at his side. Honestly, Shadow had been acting odd ever since he had got her...
Ah. There he was. Sighing, Sheik settled against the side of the dojo and simply kept an eye on him, Dusk settling down beside him with her paws folded. Umbreons were weird.
((OOC: Two for the price of one! Let me know in your subject line whether you want to interact with Sheik, Shadow, or both.))

Hi Shadow, have a friend
So he'd slipped away while she was in the middle of typing furiously on the nearest computer, trying to discover anything she could pin on him. And lo and behold, as he wandered he ran into another dark-type!
"Hey there," he said to the Umbreon, trotting up to him. "Have I seen you on circuit? You look kind of familiar."
Oooh, a friend!
"Perhaps," Shadow confirmed, giving the Houndoom a curious once-over and being rather too relaxed to bother feeling threatened. "My trainer and I arrived a little while ago - is yours travelling as well?"
Come to think of it, he did look somewhat familiar...

He knew he recognized this Umbreon. He knew it. "What's your trainer's name? Are you from around here?"
no subject
...Boring. He turned back to the Houndoom instead. "No, we're from Johto."

"Bri is my trainer, she's been running herself ragged trying to catch Team Rocket. I think she needs a break." He twitched the end of his tail. She needed a vacation alright, but wasn't likely to get it with Armonde on the circuit.

Changing the topic abruptly, he added, "We have one of your kind in our team... but she's still rather young and only just evolved. And still rather silly, sometimes," he added, pulling a face.
Still, he did have a soft spot for the oversized puppy... he just wouldn't admit that.

He still remembered the day when they told him he'd have a partner. He had been terrified - humans had never been good to him. But Bri was so enthusiastic about everything, all the time, she didn't have time to be mean.

If Faust was thinking Shadow looked distinctly put-out at that, he'd be right. Stupid upstart fellow Dark-type that was nearly as strong as him... at least Pup was silly and young-enough that he was still top dog.
So to speak.
Shadow's busy, let's chat with Sheik. :P
He was probably just unused to being alone, he decided, feeling that was at least slightly less embarrassing than being afraid of an empty building. Hermes had stayed behind in Kurt's bed at the Center, refusing to be budged from his well-deserved nap. Not that he was alone, Kurt realized, and moved forward. "Sheik!" he called with some surprise--he hadn't expected to see someone he knew in town. Certainly not so soon.

"Kurt," he smiled, relaxing when he saw who had interrupted him - he hadn't seen the other young man since their meeting in the tunnels. "How are you?"

Hence the pile of paperwork on his lap, really.

Sheik blinked, glancing down at the notes in the margins. "Ah - yes. I write it and play."

Reaching into his bag, he withdrew a black instrument case. With a mildly wary glance at Kurt, he took a breath, then undid the clasps and lifted the lid.
Inside? A small gold lyre, just the right size for someone to hold it comfortably with one arm. Sheik lifted it out, settling it against his left arm and brushing the delicate strings with the tips of the fingers of his right hand. "I play this," he murmured - well, at least that explained the state of his fingertips.

"It's gorgeous," he said when the case was opened, with the reverence of a long-time musical nerd upon faced with a well-used instrument. "I only ever did a bit of piano, for fun, I've never seen something like this up close."
no subject
"Thank you," he murmured, brushing the well-worn surface. Oh, it was still in excellent condition, but it had definitely been played frequently. "I've played piano, a little - but I prefer this one." And he played a few careful notes, easing into a gentle little tune.

"Thank you," he said again, still smiling - music was probably his one true love, even moreso than battling. "You said you sing? Perhaps if the tournament never takes off, we can start a band."
He was... only half-joking.
