It's like a country club only way more dramatic [OPEN to Gym Leaders]
Who: Skyler, Viktor, Sean and maybe the other gym leaders
What: Food, drink, battling!
When: Late afternoon into early evening
Where: League Officials' Lounge in the Sheercliff Hotel.
Despite the fact that she'd been on the road for a while and followed the circuit whenever she could, at heart Skyler was still daddy's little rich girl, used to hanging out at fancy poolsides in fancy resort hotels.
Sheercliff's hotel wasn't nearly as high-class as she was used to, but despite being raised around these kinds of things, Skyler didn't really care about them. The only conceit she allowed herself was hanging out in the League Officials' Lounge instead of the general lobby of the hotel - despite repeated statements that she wasn't going to battle anyone for a badge until they got to Crescent Beach, challenges still came at her all the time.
Hiding away here with the rest of the gym leaders was supposed to be relaxing, but Skyler had a feeling that once Viktor arrived from wherever he was, things would be different. They had agreed to battle, after all - and she'd seen further down on his network post that he'd challenged Sean as well. She shook her head - he assumed he would win so easily! She'd show him otherwise.

When he reached Sheercliff hotel he was even more angry. Not only had he specifically requested to stay at a local inn that he preferred over this shabby hotel, the League insisted that all the gym leaders stay at the hotel. He walked into the Official's Lounge and slammed the door, turning and seeing Skyler there, "Afternoon."

Anyone else might have dismissed Viktor based on his abrasive attitude, but Skyler didn't have a resentful bone in her body. Besides, she didn't want him to be angry going into the battle, he might make a mistake and then it'd go by too fast. She loved battling for the joy of it, liked having a good battle rip up the arena, and neither of them would enjoy it if he was determined to be in a bad mood.

He took sip of his drink and forced a smile, "The officials said we can use the gym on top of the hotel, after some trainers finish up a battle there. Said they would let us know when they've finished."
no subject
She crunched another piece of ice. "But I guess it's all the fighting-type pokemon. They're not exactly a fan of ghost-types, you know?"
no subject
He looked around the room, examining some of the old photographs of the original gym leaders of Bohren and the formation of the League. It was nostalgic, his Grandmother spoke wonders of when the Bohren circuit was first formed...Hazel looked so young.

Skyler shifted in the chair until she was kind of sprawled across it, her legs hooked over the arm. The hotel staff eyeballed her like they might say something, but she gave them a sunny grin and they turned away. She crunched more ice.

"Excuse me, the training area is ready for the two of you..." he forced out a nervous smile and left the room. Viktor finished his drink in a large gulp and looked over at Skyler, "Ready to lose?"

She put her hand down to Lucky's pokeball and tapped it with her fingers. This was going to be a good battle, she could tell already.

When he reached the top, he took his place on the trainer square and reached for a pokeball, "Ready?"
no subject
"Tuuuuuuuuuuuurn," the Lanturn said, eyeing Viktor across the field. He remembered his last battle with this trainer, and was looking forward to a very different result this time.
Skyler, for her part, was going over the last battle in her mind - what she could remember of it, anyway.

"Bliiiiiiiiiiiim!" it spun high into the air, feeling the cool breeze on his face, it whirled a bit and hovered back down and nuzzled up against Viktor.
"No no! Get back over there, we are battling! Quickly, Stockpile!" The Drifblim rushed over to the field and nodded, sucking in air, it grew double in size.
no subject
And if he thought her strategy would be exactly the same as the last battle, he could think again. "Thunder, Lucky! Hit it before its defense gets too high!"
The safe thing to do would have been to Rain Dance to boost Thunder's accuracy. And as Lanturn's lure glowed and a bolt of lightning lanced down on Viktor's side of the field - only to miss horribly - Skyler made a face. Should have played it safe, not risky.

At the moment though, the Ground-type specialist was hanging around indoors, watching the game of catch going on between Bone and Arc. The Marowak was hurling the bone he carried everywhere, and the young Cranidos was attempting to catch it before it turned around and whizzed back to Bone. So far, she was succeeding, but Bone wasn't making it easy on her.
"Careful guys," their trainer called, after Bone narrowly missed a window. He trusted his Pokemon, but near misses were enough to worry anyone.
Shawn sighed and went back to wondering how best to beat Viktor later on. The Ghost leader was no doubt strong, but Shawn had learned a thing or two from listening to the recounts of his earlier battle with Skyler. He wasn't going to lose to a whiner!

Viktor decided that it was probably best to let Persian out, she did not like being kept in her ball for long periods of time, and she was probably tired of being cooped up all the time. He grabbed her ball and released her, she gave a large yawn and started to clean her paws. She intensively watched the bone while it was tossed through the air. She was not one to play 'fetch' or 'catch' but she was none the lest interested, "So Shawn, are you ready for my team to whip the floor with your Pokemon?" Viktor had since calmed down since their last discussion on the trainer network, but he was still ready to attempt to fight Shawn. It had been...a while since the two had battled, and Viktor was a confident, but still a little nervous.

"Nope! Because that wasn't on the schedule today," the teen replied with a grin. Cocky seeming, totally. It was his trademark after all. People always were stupid enough to underestimate a young Gym Leader. It made winning all the better. "I think you're going to be in for a surprise."
Maybe a battle so soon after Quakeburg wasn't a good idea for his Pokemon, but they did always get restless right after the circuit had rolled through. Going from near-constant battles to nearly nothing was never good. Although the rematches helped. Either way, Shawn believed in his team.

"It's a shame that these trainers think they are ready for such a battle. Even the young ones that think they can take on my entire advanced team. Just yesterday a young trainer tried to take on my entire team with a single Rattata...I tried to tell him to wait till we got to Abeo so I could use my basic team." He shrugged and let out a small sadistic laugh, "But no, thought that he could manage. Poor sap." he laughed again, remembering the terror on his face when his Pokemon was taken out in one hit.
no subject
He shrugged at the mention of the trainers. "Gotta wonder if having the kick-off tournament is good for them. Too many seem to think going well in it means they're ready for the Gyms." The amount of people he'd wiped the floor with lately was almost saddening. "One on one is good and all, but focusing on one Pokemon's going to get you clobbered later." Take out that initial Pokemon and most trainers were done.
no subject
"Hopefully they will improve as the league continues. Though there are a few trainers that have caught my eye..." he started to daze, thinking about a few of the trainers he had seen during their time in the circuit, there were quiet a few who impressed him.
no subject
"Wait till you have to actually battle some of them. I was having to think up new things to even keep up with some of the better ones," Shawn commented, patting Arc as she trotted over briefly, jealous of the Persian. "Being first on the circuit is always interesting."
One thing he did prefer was being the first gym. It really let you watch how the trainers grew.
no subject
"I hope that you are right Shawn, I am interested to see how they all improve." Persian yawned and stuck out its claws and started to trim them in her mouth, not very attractive, but something she needed to do.
"I wonder how they will all fair once the tournament here starts. Have you heard anything about it yet?" he sighed. He probably shouldn't be thinking about this towns events anymore. He was ready to get out of these forsaken mountains.

"As long as I get to use my Pokemon though, it'll be fine by me. I did warn the guys last time that Aerodactyl wasn't the best Pokemon to throw onto the new trainers..." The teen winced. What a fiasco that'd been.
PHONE TAGGING FTW
He laughed at the mention of the Aerodactyl, "That poor trainer. The RTF could have handled it much smoother than they did. The media had a field day with that one." He took another sip, "Complete disaster".
omg journal fail....

XD
He couldn't help sighed at the mention of the media. "It doesn't take much. Aerodactyl get set off so easily." Rava hadn't gotten any rest during that tournament. She'd been flying after the Aerodactyl and trying to save the poor trainer the entire time.
