Love is in the air...

WHO: Lovely & Blitz
WHAT: Lovely leaves the party and decides to explore.
WHERE: Outside the Route 293 Pokemon Center, around the River.
WHEN: Evening, after the Quakesberg Tournament

It wasn't that Lovely didn't like parties, because she did. She wasn't sure what it was that made her want to so desperately leave the Pokemon center. It may have been how Milla and Saori were having so much bonding time, it may have been that she was full of poffins and needed to walk around, but whatever it was Milla had no issue letting her explore. She was glad to have a trainer like Milla.

Having a psychic trainer made things so much easier. Lovely could not imagine what it would be like to have to talk to a trainer that couldn't feel her emotions and her thoughts. Not to mention Milla needed bonding time with Irmã, she was new to the group and...okay maybe Lovely was totally jealous. She was getting all the attention and...well...Lovely wasn't used to this. She was the youngest of Milla's Pokemon...it was hard to accept the newest member, but Lovely expected this.

Bebe, Darling and Lovely had long discussions before leaving Johto on the possibility of new members. Both Bebe and Darling were ecstatic of new Pokemon, Lovely just ignored it. But now it hurt. Luckly this underground Route provided plenty of opportunities for exploration. The Pokemon Center was very large, with an inn attached to the back for Trainers, and a shop or two in the area, but Lovely wanted to explore the river that ran through the cave. She could hear the waterfall from even inside the Pokemon center and she wanted nothing more than to see it.

Blitz, unlike Lovely, wasn't too fond of parties. For one, crowds made him anxious - and for another, 'official functions' like this were the worst because it meant that Bri was stuck in one place and they couldn't do anything fun.

She had decided to keep Faust with her to patrol the celebration, so Blitz had left the center of the place as fast as he could, dashing through the town feeling the wind in his fur.

He found the riverbed and really let loose, his paws pounding faster and faster until he was little more than a streak of yellow along the side of the water.

And then, he saw her. The Espeon sitting on the riverbank was probably the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, lit up by the reflection of Quakesburg's lanterns on the surface of the water - he abruptly realized that he was about to run right into her.

Unfortunately, braking at that speed came with... complications. He put out his paws to stop and only succeeded in tumbling flat on his nose, rolling end over end until he fetched up on his back less than a foot away from the Espeon. Smooth, Blitz, he thought. Really smooth.

Lovely looked down at the Jolteon and giggle, "Why hello there." she lifted up one paw and started to clean it, trying to get the dust the new Pokemon had thrown all over the Pokemon.

She cleaned the jewel on her forehead and looked down at the water to check her reflection, "There we are," she moved one hair that was out of place to where it ought to be and looked over at the Pokemon, the Life Orb necklace she wore, jingling a bit as she turned, "Very nice speed you have there."

"Uhhh... thanks!" Blitz said, picking himself up. Thanking girls was good. He thought they liked that. Not that he had any experience with girls oh god he was talking to a girl.

His mind raced, trying to come up with some kind of topic of conversation. "Sorry I got you dirty," he said. He shook himself, his spiky fur rattling back in place, and tried to mash down the unruly mess on the top of his head.

"That's alright." she shot him a smile. If you traveled with Milla as long as she had, you learned a thing or two about talking to members of the opposite sex. Not to mention it had been a long time since she had interacted with an other member of her evolutionary family, probably since before she had left her family, "My name is Lovely." she batted her eyes a bit and put out her paw, it was something she had seen Milla do hundreds of times before.

For all the things Blitz was good at - chasing down bad guys and zapping them to a crisp - he was really, really bad at most social interaction. Blame an awkward childhood. "My name's Blitz," he said, staring at her paw. What was he supposed to do? Faust would know what to do but Faust was on duty.

So he kind of, stuck out his own paw and bumped it against hers, pulling back just as fast, his ears twitching. "Are you, uh, new to Bohren?"

Lovely looked down at her paw and back up at Blitz...alright. Perhaps his trainer was also a male who was not used to interacting with members of the opposite sex. She shrugged it off, Milla was very different from most people, "Why yes. My trainer is from Johto, we arrived here a little after the circuit began. Though I am from Kanto, originally." she looked down at the water again, as she noticed a fish swimming through it.

She looked back up at Blitz, "Are you from Bohren?" she said with a little more enthusiasm, her tail swishing elegantly up and over to the other side.

"Yeah! I grew up here." Blitz didn't even notice the pause or the strange look she gave him. Lovely, meet obliviousness personified.

He searched around for something to say, and finally settled on, "It's cool that you've been so many places! I've never been outside of Bohren." Not that he resented Bri for that, she had duties and they kept her here. Besides, chasing down bad guys wasn't a bad job.

All the time he talked, his eyes tracked over the elegant sweep of her tail, the shine of the jewel in her forehead. She was so pretty.

"Yes I have been all over. My trainer was once a Pokemon Researcher." she smiled, a little full of herself. Lovely rarely bragged this much, but Blitz seemed to be completely entranced by her. She needed this, to get her mind of Irmã, "Bohren has been just lovely. I do love to explore caves like these."

She looked down at the stream then back up at Blitz and smiled, "Is there a Waterfall around here? I can hear it, but I haven't been able to find it." her ear twitched a bit, focusing in on the sound of falling water. It was here, and if Blitz was a native she was sure he could find it.

"Bohren's pretty cool - you haven't even seen some of the best parts yet. I'll be glad when the circuit gets down out of the mountains." Electric types: not so fond of being surrounded by rocks.

Blitz's ears twitched and he puffed up his chest a little. "I can go check! It'll only take me a second!" And okay, maybe he was boasting a little, but he was fast.

Oh that's right, she always forgot how different the different evolutions of her family could be, "Of course!" she shot him a big smile and stood up on her feet, "If I was a Jolteon I would try to race you but I don't have the same kind of speed as you do." she walked past him and sat down again.

Well if there was one way to make him more confident in himself, it's to compliment his speed. "Alright, back in a flash!" he said, and dashed off down the river.

He wasn't kidding about the 'flash' part either - he put the speed on and shot down the bank in the same yellow streak he had been before, his paws pounding the dirt and the wind ruffling his spiky fur. Running was awesome, it was pretty much Blitz's favorite thing ever. So running and showing off for a cute girl? Blitz was really happy about this situation.

The river ended in a spring with no waterfall, so Blitz slowed to a more reasonable pace before pulling a dirt-slinging turn and dashing back the way he had came.

This time, though, he slowed down before he could risk crashing into Lovely and sat down next to her. "It's not that way so it must be this way!"

Lovely simply giggled at Blitz, he was adorable, "Well, hurry it up!" she joked. He was fast. By far one of the fastest Pokemon she had ever seen. She turned around and faced the other position of the stream.

Blitz was about to dash off again, but then he stopped, considering. "Do you... maybe want to come with me? We can find it together and then it'll be new for both of us!"

His ears twitched. Maybe she would say no. If she said no he didn't know what he would do. But what if she said yes, that meant a long time walking with a girl he had next to no idea of how to talk to. Oh man.

Blitz wished Faust were here.

Lovely thought for a moment and looked around, "Sure! Why not." she stood up and then stretched forward, he long sharp claws poking out of her paws and her tail arching up into the air, "Let's go!" she pranced off in front of the Jolteon.

The cave was truly a marvelous, she decided to take the high road and started to jump on large boulders onto the cliff sides that were carved into the cave walls. Probably by herds of Steelix by the way the gashes in the wall were, "I may not be fast, but I am very agile." she jumped quickly up each rock, gracefully landing on her front paws and smiling down at the Jolteon.

Blitz followed the Espeon, trotting along on ground level - he was a speedy thing, but not very good at jumping from rock to rock. He didn't want to fall on his nose and embarrass himself.

When Lovely jumped back down to his level, it was like his mouth functioned all on its own. "You're really pretty too," he said, and then shut his mouth quickly, surprised that it had even come out.

Lovely blushed, this was exactly what she needed. She felt a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach. She was excited that she was getting the attention from such a Pokemon as Blitz, but at the same time she felt guilty as though she was using him as an escape. She tried to push these things out of her mind and smiled at the Jolteon, "T-thank you! How very sudden."

They turned a corner and there it was. The most magnificent waterfall she had ever seen, water pouring in front the caves roof and turning into the underwater stream that ran through the caves. Poliwags and Psyducks floated below it and a few fighting types were meditating around it, "Wow." the spray was flashing up onto her fur and it felt wonderful.

Blitz blushed a little as well - that had gone better than he thought! "W-well to tell the truth... that's why I crashed..." He looked up at the waterfall to avoid looking at her because man, how embarrassing was that.

Not that it was a bad thing to look up at the waterfall. "This is really cool," he said quietly.

She covered her face with her paw and giggled again, "You are very silly Blitz." she too was staring at the waterfall, "Yes it is very spectacular." A Tyrogue did a dive from the top of the cave into the pool, without making much of a splash and the rest of the Pokemon around started to applaud and cheer.

"So what brings a Jolteon like yourself to a cave like this. I would assume your type didn't like places like this." it was rather odd, he did seem like he could be a wild Pokemon, but then again, Eevee's were supposedly rare and protected in this region, at least that is what Milla had told her.

Blitz walked a little closer to the waterfall, flopping down in a place where the water would cling to his fur. "Well, my trainer's with the Ranger Task Force so she's following the circuit this time around."

He looked around at the cave. "I'm not a fan of being underground for so long, but we'll be out of here soon. Wait until we get past Sheercliff!"

Lovely followed and sat next to him, lapping at a small stream that was coming from a offshot of the waterfall, dripping down the caves walls, "How exciting. You must get to do all sorts of exciting things. Did you ever manage to catch that nasty Aerodactyl?" she was curious. During the tournament Milla had let her out and she had witnessed the poor trainer being carried around as the creature simply laughed and screeched.

Blitz's ears twitched. "Oh, I wasn't the one chasing him down - that was Glaive. He's our team's Skarmory. I think they caught him though."

He put his front paws in the water to cool them off - running that fast and walking that far made them hurt a little. "So you're here for the tournament circuit too?"

Lovely nodded as she watched a Mankey dive from the top of the waterfall into the small pond, "Yes, my trainer has decided to take a break from research and peruse a league. This one seemed like the best option for her as it was the newest region she could find."

Her tail swished back and forth, feeling the spray of the waterfall fall across her face. It felt good, very cool and refreshing. A few Zubat flew across the cave and into a tunnel. She smiled, "Are there many places like this in Bohren? It seems so magical here."

"If you think this is good, wait until we get out of the mountains!" Forgive him for his enthusiasm about this, he's an electric-type. "Then we'll get onto the coast and there's nothing like running on open sand, you'll see, and the sunset over the water, WOW!" He was really enthused now, and you could see it.

What he didn't notice was the Machoke who casually walked up behind him and shoved him into the river.

Blitz made a surprised noise and jolted backward out of the water, electricity crackling from his spikes. He crouched down between Lovely and the Machoke and growled. "What did you do that for?"

"You don't like our caves so much? You leave," the Machoke said, punching its hand into its fist.

"Oh yeah?" Blitz said, pawing the ground, spikes bristling. "Why don't you make me?"

Lovely turned toward the Machoke, "Now wait just one second, that was awfully rude of you!" she sat up and walked in front of Blitz, "I'd like you to apologize for that, he's an electric pokemon, he can't help if he doesn't like the-"

The Machoke leaned back and send a roaring mach punch directly at Lovely, throwing her back into the water. Of course, she was pretty good against defending against fighting moves, but she wasn't prepared for that one.

"Lovely!" Blitz shouted, dancing nervously on the shore. He couldn't dive in after her - he was too excited to keep the electricity out of his spikes!

Then he whirled around, hearing footsteps behind him. "No you don't!" he said, and his fur glowed blue as he dashed out of range with Agility. "Lovely are you okay?!"

The water ripped for a moment and a pause. She dove out of the water and back onto the shower, shaking her fur so that the water flew off, "Yes I am fine." the Machoke was trying to catch up with Blitz, Lovely realized that she was injured and focused her energy. The stone on the top of her head started to glow and the light coming in from the top of the waterfall grew brighter. She used Morning Sun and could feel her energy coming back to her.

"Keep him distracted Blitz!" she had an idea. If she could just get in a Calm Mind or two, that Machoke would be no problem.

The glow from the gem on Lovely's forehead almost distracted him - she looked, if possible, even prettier than the first time he'd seen her. "What's the matter you big stupid hunk of muscle, can't keep up with a real pokemo- ah, woah!"

Blitz had been too busy staring and taunting, and the Machoke had caught up. He was fuming, and only Blitz's quick duck saved him. But then the Machoke lifted his arms up over his head, ready to smash them down on top of Blitz-

Which was when Blitz sprang backward with all four feet, a Substitute popping up in his place. It squeaked loudly as the Machoke hit it and broke. "Lovely, I'm going to Pass to you, tell me when you're ready!"

She nodded, "One sec!" she sat down on closed her eyes, her stone glowing yet again. She focused all her energy and the air around her seemed to squeeze in, all the sound blocking out. She paused for a few moments and opened her eyes quickly taking defensive position. The Calm Mind had worked, "I'm ready."

The Machoke roared at him, running uselessly after him. "Alright, get ready!" he yelled, and turned in his tracks, streaking behind the Machoke and then skidding into another turnaround as the Machoke turned to face him.

"Stand still so I can hit you!" the Machoke yelled, and Blitz smirked.

His body glowed, and then abruptly he and Lovely switched places, Blitz leaving a glowing, crackling shell of himself in his wake. "Get him!"

Lovely dove into the Pass. It was an odd sensation. Her entire body seemed to be vibating, and she could see why Blitz acted he did. She could feel the speed pulsing through her body, her fur was standing on edge. If it wasn't for the calm mind, she probably wouldn't be able to focus, but she absorbed the energy and smiled, "Hey lunk head."

"Uh?!" the Machoke wasn't quiet sure what was going on.

She ran and was standing behind him within the blink of an eye, "No over here." She did this maybe 2 or 3 more times until she realized that the Pokemon was too dense to know what was going on anyway. She ran up right in front of him and used psychic. Her stone glowed, and the light was so bright, the other pokemon by the waterfall had to cover their eyes. When the light dimmed, the Machoke was gone. She had sent it hurling down the tunnels toward Quakesberg. She smiled and sped over to Blitz.

Blitz had started laughing the first time she darted around behind the Machoke, and kept at it, pointing as he flew through the air toward the city. He laughed so hard he fell over, his ears dangling into the river. "That was the best!" he said, grinning at Lovely. "Bet nobody will mess with us now!"

"I sure hope not!" The rest of the Pokemon at the waterfall seemed to cheer and hoop and holler, "I suppose he didn't have many friends down here. What a bully." she looked down at Blitz, "I still have all this pent up energy! Lets race!!" she darted back and forth, "Unless you are scared!"

"Psh! Why would I be scared!" To tell the truth, Lovely was probably going to win - Blitz had lost his speed boost passing it to her. But... since she had the advantage, she wouldn't mind if he gave himself a head start, right?

"Onyourmarkgetsetgo!" he said, and dashed off along the riverbank, laughing.

"HEY!" she sped off after him. She could feel her energy propelling itself. Lovely felt like she could run for days. She rushed forward, turning into a pink bolt of lightning. She could see Blitz...and now she was past him. She almost ran into a school of Zubat, but managed to dodge out of the way, leaving them in a trail of dust.

Laughing the entire way she reached the mouth of the cave. As the sun light hit her she turned on feet to face her opponent who was coming in last place whether he liked it or not.

Blitz was laughing too, as he ran up in the wake of Lovely's dust - she'd passed him so fast he barely saw her, and his feet pounded hard on the dirt as he chased her. They'd be sore as anything after all this running, but it was totally worth it.

He squinted as they ran out into the sunlight, skidding to a halt until he could blink the spots from his eyes. He shook his spikes, trotting over to Lovely with a grin. "That was a blast! And we make a great battling team, too!"

Blitz found himself hoping that Lovely's trainer would stay on the circuit for a long time.

They had reached the opening to Sheercliff, the sun was setting beyond the ocean and the waves were crashing in below them. The Ocean itself was beautiful, pale pinks and oranges bursting through, "Yeah it was...perhaps our trainers will get paired up in a tournament...I would like that." Lovely, too, hoped that she would see Blitz again.

"Well...I suppose I should go find my trainer. I've been away for a while and she might bet worried." she didn't want the evening to end. She was having too much fun with Blitz. But it was getting late and she was getting some underlying feelings of concern, possibly being sent by Milla or her team mates.

Blitz looked crestfallen for a minute - but he realized that he probably needed to get back to Bri too, before she started to worry. Glaive might be able to wander all over the place as he pleased, but Blitz liked to stick closer to his trainer's side.

"Well uh, I'll walk you back then?" he asked, hopeful.

"That would be wonderful, let me see where they are." she sat down and closed her eyes, her small jewel glowing, she paused for a few moments and then nodded, "Looks like they have already reached the Sheercliff Pokemon center!" she was afraid they were going to have to back track, but looks like she would be able to enjoy the open air once again.

"Wow, they got so far already?" Blitz said, glancing back at the darkness in the cave. "I told them time moved funny down there! Alright Lovely, let's get going!"

Blitz smiled and pranced ahead a little on the trail. "And if anything tries to mess with us we'll win every time!"

Lovely nodded and giggled, "Of course we will!" the two did make an great team, much better than any of the other members of Milla's team.

The wind was a little strong coming off the cliff But who knew how long they had been down there in the caves. But Milla, when determined, was hard to stop, "I feel that they are...in the center of the cliff." she looked over at Blitz confused, "But how is that possible....?"
