Who: Ash, and anyone else passing by!
What: BATTLES OF EPIC--! But Ash might be catching some Pokémon afterwards!
Where: A few routes before Quakesburg.
When: Late afternoon, August 5th.

Even though this wasn't his first time traveling by himself, but it was the first time spending more than one day - okay, the Pokémon League did not count since they almost never created chaos there, but...Team Rocket couldn't be too far behind. Why weren't they here? Team Rocket always came at the worst moments to attempt to steal Pikachu.

So, why weren't they here? It was a bit weird, but also quite relieving. And plus, he'd met a whole bunch of nice people from this region and they actually helped him out a bit. Sure, he did have to go to the Pokémon Center in order to eat before figuring out that the Professor of this region wasn't always in one place...but that was alright! He had his own things to do.

No matter what happened, Ash would surely get to Quakesburg and battle the gym leader there! Clenching his fist, he thought to himself, 'No matter what, I'll get that badge.' However, what he didn't know was that the Pokémon in this region were almost the exact same ones as the ones from the other regions he was in before.

Maybe he could catch something and then go ahead and battle someone!

Milla was lofting around route 292. Most trainers were already in Quakesberg, but she was spending her time on the Route, exploring. They had already announced that the next tournament wouldn't be for a week or two, and the Gym there had people camping out waiting to challenge for the first available gym badge. Route 292 was interesting, she was given the opportunity to explore vast caverns and also to train her pokemon.

"Now Dahling! Use Psychic!" she pointed at a large boulder that was in the middle of the route.

"Jyyyyynx." her hands and eyes lit up, the light then surrounded the boulder, which then crumbled, "Jy!" shocked at her power, Darling started to jump and down in victory.

"Wonderful Dahling! Oh! Hello there!" she turned and saw the trainer coming down the path, "Oh! OH! Ash?!"

Ash gave a sheepish laugh and scratched the back of his hat, attempting to remember who this was, exactly. It took a while for him to recall the name, since he wasn't really that good at remembering people through technology, after all. "Oh! Hey, Milla!"

His Pikachu then waved as well from his seat on Ash's shoulder, smiling happily. "Piika!" Ash then smiled with a thumbs up.

"It's really nice to meet you in person, Milla. Are you practicing for the tournament that's coming up?" Of course, Ash was curious, but even though he was here for the League, he was cool with chilling around the area looking for new Pokémon as well as a new rival.

And Team Rocket. Either one of those would be a real good deal. Though he did prefer Team Rocket to stay away from his Pokémon. Actually, as far away as possible, even.

"Oh yes, dahling, of course I am! My Pokemon are not used to battling all the time! I used to be a pokemon researcher so they were used to just assisting me on the field." She hugged her Jynx who responded back affectionately.

"Jynx jy!" Darling nodded at Ash and then Pikachu and in the direction of Pikachu, "Jy! Jah-Jynx, ji a JI JI! Jyyyynx Jy!" Milla nodded.

"Exactly! So now we are on the road here in Bohren!" she patted the Jynx on the back and chuckled.

"I see," Ash responded with a small smile on his face. "That's cool that you used to be a Pokémon Researcher! I knew a whole bunch when I journeyed around the other regions, right, Pikachu?"

The small electric rodent squealed in reply, apparently agreeing with its trainer.

Then, speaking directly to Milla, "So this is your first League?"

"Yes it is. I thought about going through the Johto league but then I heard about Bohren...and how could I resist adventure??" She nodded as Junction waddled over to Ash and started to chatter to Pikachu.

Ash chuckled slightly. "The Johto League was pretty fun! Though Bohren seems quite as exciting too." It was true, and he couldn't deny that fact. After all, that's why he came to this region in the first place, wasn't it?

Saori was taking a break from training her Weepinbell, Hana, and Yanma, Tonbo. Kai was let out of his Pokeball since she figured the Luxray wanted out as well. Earlier in the day, she made some rice balls for her and Akito. And since she was talking to Ash earlier, she had the foresight to make some extra for him in case he ran into her.

Kai was basking in the sun when he heard someone approaching. He gave a small growl so his trainer would also notice. She stood up and looked up to see who it was and waved. "I hope you're hungy, Ash!"

"Oh, hey!" Ash waved back as he stared at his stomach, as if he were anticipating a growl. However, he did eat a few hours ago - but then again, his stomach was like a black hole. Then he heard it, even though it wasn't as loud as it usually was, but it was still a growl, nonetheless.

Looking at his buddy, he then asked one question. "What about you, Pikachu?" It was quite obvious that his only electric-type was hungry as well.

"We're definitely hungry."

She laughed and went over to Ash to give him the rice balls, packed in a medium-sized plastic container. "I wasn't sure when I would be seeing you, so I couldn't make anything too big. I hope you don't mind."

Kai followed right behind Saori. The Luxray was always wary of strangers approaching his trainer and some might say even more so towards guys.

Ash gave a small laugh while taking the rice ball, nodding as a sign of thanks. "Thank you very much for the food!" Taking a bite out of it, he soon realized that the rice balls were more delicious than he expected. But now that he thought about it, food just reminded him of... Brock.

"Hey, Pikachu, you want some?" he looked back at his partner, who squealed back in reply, taking one as well.

"It's no problem at all. Have as much as you and your Pikachu want." Seeing people and pokemon enjoying her food always made her happy.

"Now that I got a better look at Pikachu, I can really tell you take really good care of your pokemon."

Ash laughed in a bit of embarrassment, scratching the back of his head. Pikachu gave a quick smile squealing happily. "Thanks, I'm just glad my buddy's okay!"

It was true. Even though he himself couldn't cook, he tried his best to take care of Pikachu. He'd been with him ever since he met the little guy back in Pallet, and ever since he protected him from the flock of Spearow.

"So, how've you been doin'?"

"Oh, just training up my team for the Gym Battle," Saori pulled out two pokeballs to call out Hana and Tonbo. The yanma landed carefully on top of her shoulder while the weepinbell sat next to Kai.

"I heard he uses ground-type pokemon, so Kai here is at a disadvantage." The Luxray snorted. He could take care of any pokemon they were up against. Really.

Ash nodded. "Yeah, but even with disadvantages, Pikachu can handle him just fine, right, Pikachu?" The little mouse then squealed, its answer obviously being that even though there are ground-types, they could handle anything that went their way.

Even if the road was going to be a difficult one.

"It's good that you're very confident, Ash. I bet Pikachu's fairly strong, considering you came all the from the Kanto region." She couldn't help but find Pikachu to be absolutely adorable too.

"Oh, would you mind if I gave Pikachu a poffin?"

"Mm! I've been in many different Leagues too, so I guess experience is really important," Ash replied with a grin on his face. Then, looking back at his partner, he decided to ask the same question. "Well, buddy? Whadd'ya think? Do you want to try a poffin? You haven't had any since we left Sinnoh!"

Pikachu squealed happily. It sure did like poffins, but Ash also knew that people made poffins differently and Pikachu may or may not actually like them. But it was worth a try, right?

"Alright then," Saori pulled out a rather large case and opened it to reveal full of different colored poffins. Since she wasn't sure what nature Pikachu was, she showed the opened box to the Pokemon.

"I'll let you pick which one you want, sweetie. I have all different kinds of flavors here."
